Kristian Woolf was delighted with his team’s performance after late COVID-19 testing and a late arrival at Emerald Headingley meant it wasn’t the ideal preparation for Friday’s dominant win over the Giants.
Lewis Dodd was set to make his Saints debut in the halves, only for him to be ordered to self isolate after coming into contact with a positive Covid-19 case at the Club.
Traffic on the way to the ground also meant the Saints only arrived 30 minutes before kick off, but Woolf was pleased with his team’s attitude in the win and as well as the number of points scored was impressed with the defensive effort.
The boss had praise for Jack Welsby who came in the halves alongside the ever-reliant Jonny Lomax whilst there was positive injury news on Zeb Taia and Theo Fages who could both return against Hull KR next week, whilst Woolf also said Mark Percival has a chance to feature too.
Kevin Naiqama did pick up a knock to his neck and he will be assessed this week.
Saints TV subscribers can watch the FULL press conference where Woolf talks more on the win, has praise for Aaron Smith’s performance, another try from Alex Walmsley and some more lines on the ‘devastated’ Lewis Dodd who Woolf promised will get his debut in the next few weeks.
