Matty Evans speaks to Saints TV about his recent opportunities in the First Team and looks ahead to our match against Wakefield Trinity away.
The young forward returned from a knee injury shortly before being handed his debut and has continued to learn with each appearance. He admitted there have been mistakes along the way, but he sees them as an important part of his development in the senior ranks.
Evans, who joined Saints from Crosfields as a fourteen-year-old, has progressed through the Saints’ Scholarship and Academy systems alongside a number of his current teammates. He believes having familiar faces around him has helped make the step into the First Team less daunting. He is also learning from the more experienced members of the squad.
Now, Evans is looking forward to Saturday’s trip to Wakefield Trinity, with Saints aiming to return to winning ways. He also highlighted Joe Shorrocks reaching 150 Super League appearances as an added motivation for the team to produce a big performance and secure the victory.
