As we build up to our opening trial game of the season in Alex Walmsley’s testimonial game, we take a look back at this 2017 offering of the same fixture.
Going into the game off the back of a defeat at the hands of the Widnes Vikings, the Saints needed a result following a lacklustre start to the season that had already seen us pick up a loss at the hands of the Leigh Centurions in the reverse fixture.
The game was in the balance all the way through to the midway point of the 2nd half when the Saints began to really mark down some authority, but Leigh made us work for every point scored, with Alex Walmsley ultimately sealing the tie late on.
