Sam Royle on proud day after captaining young Saints

Sat 23 Apr 22

It may not have been the result we wanted on Friday after defeat to the Castleford Tigers, but it was a proud day for Academy graduate Sam Royle who captained the Saints for the first time.

Royle has now captained the Scholarship, Academy, Reserves and his leadership qualities were rewarded when boss Kristian Woolf made him captain ahead of Saints trip to Castleford.

It was a young Saints side which included seven debutants and despite the defeat, Royle insisted he was proud of the team on a special day for him personally.
