Four games, four wins in August, so it was a strong month for Paul Wellens’ troops as we build towards the end of the regular season and head into the play-offs!
August began with an away visit to Salford when the Red V came from 15-0 down to win 15-18 with Jack Welsby sealing it in the final ten minutes.
A home game followed, but not just any home game, our Round One fixture was finally played against Huddersfield Giants after being delayed due to our successful involvement in the World Club Challenge. The Saints went ahead before needing to wrestle the game back and finish it off for victory, 32-18.
Five days on from the Giants clash, Hull KR came to town in the pouring rain and Wellens’ side put in a professional job in the conditions to win 28-6.
Closing out August, St.Helens went back to The Jungle in Castleford for the second time this season and dominated the first half to win 4-34.
