It’s time for you to vote on your try of the season for 2023, and with so many great tries it was hard to get it down to just these four.
Try A: Jack Welsby. What a try, and what a moment. Arguably the most important try in our 150 year history, as Jack Welsby sent us on our way to winning the World Club Challenge on Australian soil. A line breaking run from Curtis Sironen off the back of a pass at the line from Jonny Lomax saw him race away, and find the supporting Jack Welsby to cross for our first try of the night.
Try B: Jon Bennison. An absolutely outrageous dummy. An amazing team move supported by some individual brilliance from Jon Bennison to finish it off. The ball swung from right to left and Jon Bennison went through the line with only Matt Dufty to beat, and boy did he beat him with a dummy that had him clutching at thin air.
Try C: Joey Lussick. Huge assist to both Jack Welsby and Tommy Makinson for this one but it still took some finishing. Jack welsby off the back of fielding a kick through at Magic Weekend went straight through the line, only to be outnumbered on the halfway line and find a pass through to Tommy Makinson, who threw an outrageous flick pass to Joey who raced away from a few defenders to touch down in the corner.
Try D: Tommy Makinson. What is it with that heritage kit and beautiful tries. A play the ball on the left side of the field saw the ball go through the hands of five players to find Mark Percival who drew his man and flicked the offload to Makinson to race down the right. The ball then went back inside to Jonny Lomax who found Joe Batchelor. Joe drew the last defenders and got it back to Tommy to touch down in the corner.
