Following the announcement that we Jack Welsby has signed on to stay at St. Helens and in Super League until 2027, we sat down with the man himself to discuss his journey so far.
Jack said he was just happy to get it done and sign on to stay, and he’s happy that he can just settle down now and get into preseason.
Over the last few weeks Jack has been linked numerous times with a move the NRL, but he’s happy to put those rumours to bed, and he’s happy with the decision he’s made.
The quality of Super League has been growing year on year, and Jack believes that while the NRL is often seen as a massive competition, Super League can be that too, and we just have to work towards it.
With everything that the teams Jack has been a part of have won over the last few years, and Jack picking up a trophy in every single season he has played first grade, he said it’s the best 10 years of his life.
A big part of the ethos at Saints is the family mentality and the support structures, and Jack said that playing here, and when you win things with the likes of Tommy Makinson, Mark Percival, and the rest of the players, you become brothers, and he couldn’t see himself playing with anyone else, and he couldn’t leave them behind.
He also went on to thank the fans for all their support over his career so far, and said he cant wait to welcome them all back to the Totally Wicked Stadium again in 2024.
