Paul Wellens spoke to the press following our big win in our final friendly before the 2024 season starts.
With this being the first game back for a lot of the squad, Paul said he’s expecting a lot of sore bodies tomorrow, but was happy with the performance, and with how the work we’ve done in the attack in preseason seems to have stuck.
He was happy with the balance of attack to the “tough stuff” and the discipline the team showed.
Jake Wingfield was singled out, as it was his first game in nine months, and he put in a big performance. Matty Lees, Morgan Knowles, and Mark Percival were all left out of the side, but just as a precaution, Paul said.
With the way the season finished, Paul said that we had some soul-searching to do in the off-season, but he’s excited about the changes we’ve made, and how we’re adapting as a team to the changes across the game.
