Following his full debut for the club, years after leaving as a scholar, Matt Whitley spoke to us about how proud he was to not only finally make his debut for his hometown club, but also get over for two tries in the game.
He said he couldn’t have asked for a better debut, picking up a couple of tries in front of the west stand, and to pick up the win, it couldn’t have been more special.
While he was happy with the game, he echoed the sentiment of head coach Paul Wellens, in that we can improve in areas, and we’re not getting carried away with the win.
With an away day against Huddersfield to follow now, he said he’s looking forward to that, but he can’t wait to get back to the Totally Wicked Stadium in two weeks when we take on the Leigh Leopards in round three.
