Following an away win against the Huddersfield Giants in round two of the Betfred Super League season, Paul Wellens spoke to the press to discuss the game.
It was always going to be a tough game, with Huddersfield having made a good start to the season with a home win over the Leigh Leopars, who we will face next week.
It was another good performance from new signing Daryl Clark at hooker, backing up his player of the match performance last week with another colossal showing in the Red Vee.
Matt Whitley again impressed, picking up another try, along with Waqa Blake as they look to build on strong starts in the Red V.
Paul gave some details on why a few players missed the game, saying an illness has been going through the camp, and that’s what kept Konnie our of the team.
He also gave an update on Matty Lees, who left the field in the first half and didn’t come back on, saying he was one of the unwell players, and caught a hard knock to the chest that made him struggle with his breathing. Paul said he wasn’t too sure where Matty was at, but we will give an update as soon as we can.
