Our Head Coach looks ahead to the Round Four clash with Salford Red Devils!
It’s been a fantastic start to the new Betfred Super League season for St.Helens with three wins from the opening three games, the latest of which saw a very game-determined Leigh Leopards side come to the Totally Wicked Stadium and fall to a 12-4 defeat at the hands of the Red V.
Wellens discusses the latest surrounding his team including positive updates on Curtis Sironen, Waqa Blake and Matty Lees, however the later may be given extra time to fully ensure he’s fit and ready to go for a number of weeks. More good news was also revealed by the Saints boss that Joe Batchelor is hoped to be back available next week.
Salford have secured two wins on the spin in the last fortnight, Wellens pays credit to his opposite number Paul Rowley on getting strong performances from his squad even with all the disruption they have had in the off-season. However, Wellens wants more patience from his St.Helens men this week and full commitment to being ‘us’ and playing the game the way we want to, it should lead to points and not try forcing the matter.
