Following our victory over the Wigan Warriors in the 2024 Good Friday derby, Paul Wellens spoke to the press to discuss the game.
He said it was nothing less than he expected, as these games are always “ferocious” affairs. With the game going down to the last few minutes, he said that these games are often finley balanced, and this one was no different.
Paul said that these games are the closest thing we get to a State of Origin game in this country, and that’s because the two clubs are so very similar, and both sets of fans demand success, and the highest standards.
With the cards in the game for Wigan, Paul stated that the discipline in the game is something that is more important now than ever.
He also said that, being from St. Helens, he thanked the players after the game, and there are 14,000 fans that have gone home happy off the back of the win today. He said that the borough as a whole will be happy off the back of that, and the success of the team is vital to the the feeling in the borough.
