Our head coach spoke to the press today ahead of our upcoming Betfred Super League Round 7 clash with the Catalans Dragons away from home.
Paul spoke about the mood in the camp at the moment and through the week as we look to back up our big win on Good Friday against the Wigan Warriors with another win, this time away from home in the South of France.
He said that while that result has been good and it’s brought a definite lift, we face another challenge now away from home in the Dragons and we’re fully focused on that.
When asked about the fitness in the squad, Paul said that barring the ban for Matty Lees, one which we haven’t appealed, and Mark Percival failing his HIA, the squad is in good health despite some bangs and bruises from a tough encounter against the Warriors.
Ben Davis drew a mention from the boss as he has a selection headache going into this game, caused by how healthy the squad is and how professional everyone has been, with Ben being named as 18th player a number of weeks in a row.
Curtis Sironen will be in a position Sione Mata’utia has been in before as he takes on his brother for the first time in Super League, with Bayley Sironen moving to the Dragons ahead of this season, and Wello said he’s mentioned it a couple of times, and it looking forward to that battle.
To finish, the boss detailed our travel preparations for the weekend, giving the reasons behind the departure date and the work that allows us to put in, and had his say on the fans, as we’ll be taking over 1,000 Saints fans over the Perpignan for the game.
