Head Coach of St.Helens Paul Wellens looks ahead to this Friday’s Betfred Super League match against Castleford Tigers.
On the back of a disappointing defeat away at Hull KR, the Saints are back on the road again this time going to the home of the Tigers and will be looking to get a big and positive response.
The Fords have had a rough start to the 2024 season but in recent weeks have found some form with wins over Salford, London and last week’s thrilling golden point draw away at Leigh Leopards. Wellens discusses the challenges that Castleford will pose when we go to their ground.
Wellens also gives an update on Matt Whitley, who has gone to see a specialist regarding a shoulder injury picked up at Hull KR last Saturday. Tommy Makinson is expected to be back available for selection after missing out last week due to chicken pox. Morgan Knowles is being monitored and assessed for a slight groin issue.
When asked about the criticism aimed at the team following the defeat to the Robins, the Saints boss spoke strongly about his firm understanding just how passionate our supporters are, and the high standard of expectation too.
