St.Helens Women kick-off a Double Header of match action this coming Friday (31st May) with The Derby against Wigan Warriors Women at 5:15pm!
The Saints have league matters to attend to this week before the focus will shift onto Wembley for the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final, and what a test it will be with the table topping Wigan Warriors Women coming to the home of the Red V.
Saints battled to best Leeds in the fourth round of the Betfred Women’s Super League last Friday night to register the Rhinos’ first loss of the 2024 season and show the intent to be competing strongly at the summit of the table along with Wigan and York. Wigan currently hold a four games and four wins record in the league season so far, but they have yet to face any of the fellow top four – until now.
With Smith keen to show our team wants to compete to win every trophy that is on offer, Friday night’s game gives a big opportunity to do just that against our local neighbours too.
Smith gives the latest on his squad, his thoughts on this selection one week out from Wembley, and speaks with pride about the continued growth of the Women’s game which saw great numbers of supporters tune in to watch last week’s win over Leeds on Sky Sports.
