Head coach Paul Wellens spoke to the press following our victory over the Catalans Dragons in Round 13 at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
Paul said that we struggled in the early stages of the game, and weren’t up to the standard with a few errors that cost us, but once we got our hands on the ball we managed to get in the ascendancy, and earned the win against a tough catalans side.
He said he felt that we needed to be more disciplined with our attack, and not force the issue. Following on from big wins against Castleford and Leeds, he felt we were forcing the ball and that led to errors, and when we played with more patience we got more opportunity off the back of it.
Noah Stephens again stood out in the middle of the pack making two breaks against what was an injury hit, but still dangerous Catalans side, and Paul said it’s good to see him getting more and more used to the systems and playing in this team. He went on to say that all Noah needs to do is keep woking, and George Delaney has laid the perfect plan for him to follow in that.
With Agnatius Paasi making a return in the game, Paul said that he ‘Iggy’ was happy to just get back out there on the field and in and amongst it again, and everyone involved with the club is delighted for him.
Paul finished by detailing what we’ll be doing with our week off, and said we’ll be training hard and making sure we’re ready for the rest of the season.
