Following our win in the Women’s Challenge cup final at Wembley stadium to make it four wins in a row, Matty Smith, Jodie Cunningham, and player of the match Zoe Harris spoke to the press!
Matty Smith touched on the effort the team had to put into the game and how they turned up for each other again and again, and how we stuck to the game plan perfectly. Over the past few weeks our defence has stood up in games, and Matty said that happened again today, but probably the best it has all season. He also praised the attack in the team and how our strike players took their chances when they arose.
Player of the match Zoe Harris spoke about how she was surprised when her name was said close to the end of the game, and how she felt she was just doing what was expected of her and working for the team. She went on to talk about the mentality of the squad and how we always prioritise working for each other above all else.
Jodie Cunningham spoke about the magnitude of winning four in a row and how she couldn’t be be prouder of the team especially in defence. She said that even when we made errors we looked along the line and said “it’s fine, we can defend it” and we have the confidence in each other that we can.
