Jonny Vaughan became Saint #1289 after making his senior St.Helens debut and following the match he spoke to Saints TV.
It was a bittersweet occasion for Vaughan who is a proud product of the Saints Academy.
After all the hard work he has put in since joining the Club as part of the Under 16s Scholarship programme, progressing through to our Under 18s Academy, stepping up into the Reserves, and then going on dual-registration to Betfred Championship side Swinton Lions, he finally got the chance to be a senior Saint.
However, the night ended sourly with a narrow 6-8 defeat to Castleford Tigers, and despite the joy of his making his debut Vaughan wanted to come off the field with the two league points.
Vaughan expressed his pride about earning a Heritage Number, and reaffirmed his desire to add to the team he has grown up not only supporting, but longing to play for.
