Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press following his side’s narrow 16-12 defeat away at Wigan Warriors.
The Saints boss was pleased that following the match he went into a quiet dressing room as he, and more importantly his team, were gutted to not get the victory.
Wellens knows that the connection between the team and the travelling support was there for all to see at the end of the fixture, because the correct effort from the Saints was put on the field – regardless of the missing personnel due to injuries.
The star of the night for St.Helens was 18-year-old debutant Harry Robertson who showed some real class. His Head Coach, who knows a thing or two about the fullback spot, beamed with joy about his performance, even when he made errors he went after the game.
Wellens also discussed about Lewis Dodd missing out, he wanted to make clear the reasons for him not being selected were due to areas of his game he can improve on, he very much remains part of our team.
