St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens gives his reaction to the press following his side’s 6-46 away victory over Hull FC.
The Saints boss was happy with the win over the Black & Whites which has ended the losing run of results. Wellens credited the team for their high completion rate which allowed them to earn points and put on a much improved performance.
With senior leaders returning to the squad in the shape of Morgan Knowles and Joe Batchelor, Paul sung their praises, both on and off the field, with their impact evident on the field at the MKM Stadium.
Lewis Dodd also stepped back into the squad selection and Wellens has continually reaffirmed that he believes in Dodd, regardless of his future after this season being with another club, and that his efforts against Hull were a just reward for all his hard work in training.
Paul shared the team’s delight for young hooker Jake Burns who grabbed a brace of tries, talking about his much he has grafted to earn his opportunities.
In closing, Wellens thanked the Saints faithful who crossed the country to back his boys and cheer them home.
