Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press ahead of the opening round of the 2025 Betfred Super League season!
The Saints are kicking off the new campaign at home to Salford Red Devils on Saturday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 5:30pm.
Wellens discusses the health of his squad heading into the first fixture of the league season, with only two of our young players currently injured (Will Roberts and Ciaran Nolan).
Explaining his reasons for not including some senior players in the Pre-Season friendly or the Challenge Cup tie, Wellens revealed it was by design and that the plan was to have our players fit and firing ready for Round One.
Taking a look at Saturday’s opposition, Wellens knows that we are encountering a tough opposition in Salford who are looking, just like us, to begin the year in strong fashion. The same opposition who got the win in the Pre-Season match in January.
Going into the new year, the Saints boss explains the highly motivated mindset of his players, with lessons learned but looking to shake off 2024 and begin the season in a positive manner.
