Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press ahead of the Saints hosting Leeds Rhinos in the Fourth Round of the 2025 Betfred Challenge Cup.
The Saints boss talks about the importance of not only this knockout match, but the competition as it presents an opportunity for our club to get closer to bringing home silverware. We have a proud history in the Challenge Cup, winning the competition 13 times and Wellens and his men are vying for a 14th.
Reflecting on last week’s loss to Hull KR, Wellens reaffirms there whilst the result was disappointing there were positives to take out of it and he has been pleased with the players’ response to assess on how they will look to improve.
There was mixed news on the injury front though with Matty Lees expected to be back available after missing out last week’s match, however Konrad Hurrell picked up a hamstring injury on dual registration with Halifax Panthers and is set to be out for around four to six weeks.
Discussing this being a big game between two of the biggest rugby league clubs, Wellens talks about the Saints’ excitement to run out on the field on Friday night at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
