The St.Helens Head Coach gives his assessment of his side’s narrow 12-14 loss at home to Warrington Wolves.
Whilst he and his team were disappointed with the result, Wellens believes there were plenty of positives to take from the way the Saints performed against Warrington. With just two points the difference despite our team being down on troops in the outside backs.
In such important and tight games, small margins can make all the difference and Wellens believes that if a couple of missed opportunities were taken correctly by his men, the result may have been different. However, our style of play had our Head Coach talking about the Saints keeping on wanting to improve and unlock our opposition more.
Giving the latest on his squad health, Wellens revealed that Daryl Clark came off the field due to a whack to his hip which will be checked out in the coming days. He then sung the praises of the man who came in for his first senior match of the year at hooker, Moses Mbye.
Furthermore, the Red V boss was delighted with the way Mark Percival played, especially given he came off the field last week due to a foot injury.
