The Saints Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press ahead of this Friday’s match against Wakefield Trinity.
Shortly after announcing his 20-man squad list for the Betfred Super League Round 7 clash against Wakefield, Wellens sat with the media and discussed the health of his squad, ahead of a short turnaround from Sunday to Friday.
Following the failed Head Injury Assessments in Sunday’s Challenge Cup Quarter Final, Mark Percival and Jake Wingfield were automatically ruled out of contention. However, the Red V boss revealed that Daryl Clark in the act of scoring his try in that game also copped a bad knock and this match came around too soon. Captain Jonny Lomax is also being assessed after rolling his ankle.
Knowing how challenging Wakefield as an opposition are, Wellens knows that they too will be looking to respond after exiting the Cup last Friday night. However, getting back into action sooner rather than later is a positive for the Head Coach.
