We caught up with Alex Walmsley as he gives his thoughts ahead of our massive upcoming clash with the Wigan Warriors on Good Friday!
Alex started by saying that the game needs no introduction. It’s a well renowned game for a reason and it’s a game everyone gets excited for, and he is no different as we look ahead to a game that’s always one of the first to be checked on the calendar.
He went on to say that the feeling you get in these games is something you can’t quite describe with the electricity and the atmosphere that comes with these fixtures.
Our results this year have been somewhat mixed, and Alex was open when saying he knows that we haven’t come out on top enough in the bigger games this year. He said that we have made improvements though on last year, and as we carry on through this period of transition, he knows we will be competing for silverware on the other side.
Following a couple of injury hit years for Alex, he said he feels good at the moment and his focus is just on keeping fit and keeping playing week in week out. Over his 13 years at the club, Alex said his role hasn’t changed much, and he’s really happy with where he is at right now.
Finally he had a request of the travelling Saints faithful: “bring the noise, as you always do.” He said that at these big games our away following is incredible and we manage to create almost a home atmosphere at an away ground, and he’s sure you’ll bring it on Friday.
