Following a loss in the Good Friday derby, we caught up with George Whitby after his second successive start and just his fourth first team appearance.
On playing on the game, George said it’s a dream come true having been in attendance at every Good Friday as a fan, so now to be able to take to the field in one yesterday meant the world to him, he was just unhappy to have fallen the wrong side of the result.
When Paul told him he would be keeping his spot in the team for the game, he said it was an unreal feeling, and Paul gave him his full faith and that gave him the confidence go out and do his job, which Lee Briers has had a hand in, helping him simplify what he does on the field.
Finally on the supporters, George said that the noise the 5,300 fans made gave the team a massive boost all through the game singing loud and proud for the full 80, and even in the warm up prior to the game and that’s all we can ask for from the fans.
