St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press following his side’s 6-13 victory over Hull FC at the MKM Stadium.
In what was a tight and hard-fought contest, Wellens was pleased by the toughness his Saints showed against the Black & Whites who were battling to earn a first home win of the 2025 season.
Whilst the Red V boss was pleased to have earned the win, he knows that the dominance shown by his team, particularly in the first half, perhaps should have resulted in more points on the board. However, Jonny Lomax stepped up to ensure the result with a late drop-goal, earning praise from his Head Coach.
Applauding the efforts of our supporters who travelled across the country and spent their hard-earned money to come and support the team, Paul paid his thanks to the fans, and expressed his fondness for the enjoyment of the win being shared between the people in the stands and his players.
