After what was a tough physical battle through the middle of the field in our clash against Wakefield, we caught up with Alex Walmsley to discuss the game!
Alex said it’s a massive two points to pick up, especially as they are in really good form at the moment, and to win away there with how hostile an environment it is to play in is big for our season, but we’re just taking it one week at a time.
We went into the game expecting a tough battle through the middles and Alex said that’s exactly what it was, and praised our defensive ability to keep them to just the solitary first half try. He went on to praise our halves and outside backs for taking opportunities when they present themselves, and with the pace now in the side it’s no surprise we’re scoring points.
Getting on the scoreboard himself with a move that looked like it came off the training ground, Alex touched on the work Lee Briers is doing, and how the forwards have license to play, but paid the most credit to Morgan Knowles, saying running off him there will always be opportunities.
With a clash against the Huddersfield Giants to come on next weekend on Sunday, Alex said we know we’ll have to be at our best again, and that there are no easy games in the league, and we’ll rest up, review this game, and be ready to go again back at home next weekend.
