Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press following his side’s 16-10 victory over Hull FC.
It was a fired-up, full physicality encounter which the Saints came out the victors. The Red V boss was pleased to have come out of the other side with the important two league points, in what was more like a Play-Off-style game than perhaps some matches the team had played in the weeks before.
Unhappy though with the two tries conceded, Wellens was pleased in the most part with our character and want to go and defend.
Whilst St.Helens sit in second place, tied on points with Wigan but with a better points difference, Wellens is aware that there are elements of our game that need to improve if we are to be where we desire at the end of the campaign.
Discussing his choice to name Jonny Lomax on the bench and then bring him on for Tristan Sailor, he knew it would have been a tough decision, whichever way he went.
