St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press following his side’s 12-8 away loss against Hull KR.
The Round 24 match saw two strong defensive teams going hell for leather after one another in a truly intense contest. However, Wellens was pleased with his side’s effort against the current league leaders, but highlighted diligence as a key area to improve in the coming weeks, if we are to achieve what we desire come the end of the year.
Admitting that the Robins deserved the victory, Wellens was disappointed though with some messy rucks which slowed the play down, but also some possible offside men from kicks making that were not penalised consistently.
Having gone to the same venue earlier in the year and losing heavily, Wellens drew the positives out of his team running the Robins much closer and showing more of themselves against a tricky, top-quality opponent.
