Head Coach Paul Rowley spoke to the press following his Saints side’s 40-10 over Castleford Tigers in Matty Lees’ Testimonial Match.
St.Helens scored seven tries in the pre-season clash at the BrewDog Stadium to ensure it was a day to remember for the Saints’ #10, in front of over 5,400 supporters.
Rowley was pleased with his team’s efforts which saw four of our recruits wear the Red V for the first time. Highlighting what each of the new players brought to the game, it was exactly what he expected; with Jackson Hastings looking to control the game, Joe Shorrocks linking the edges and the middles, David Klemmer adding size and power to the pack, and Nene Macdonald being ‘entertaining’ in the centre spot.
Paying tribute to Lees, Rowley applauded his efforts not only on his special day, but for his career so far.
