St.Helens Head Coach Paul Rowley spoke to the press following his side’s incredible comeback win over Wigan Warriors in a dramatic Good Friday derby.
It was a game that swung wildly throughout, and Rowley felt both sides had their moments, but praised his team’s ability to stay composed and keep fighting. Despite periods of dominance, Saints had let Wigan back into the contest at times, but never lost belief. That determination ultimately proved decisive as they overturned a late deficit to claim a memorable win.
With a lengthy injury list continuing to stretch the squad, Rowley highlighted the contribution of both our younger talents and experienced leaders. Our less experienced men again stepped up with dogged performances, while senior figures such as David Klemmer and Jackson Hastings provided guidance.
With Bill Leyland being the star man on the day, with his two late tries ensuring the victory on Derby Day, Rowley applauded his and Jordan Dezaria’s efforts after only having one session with the St.Helens team.
The Saints boss also paid tribute to our loud and passionate Saints supporters, whose backing lifted the team during the decisive moments and created an unforgettable atmosphere.
