The Red V returned home following a hard-fought 24-14 victory away at Hull FC to make it three match wins in a row across all competitions.
Wakefield were in impressive league form, having won their last five Super League fixtures before coming to the home of the Saints. In the previous week, they bounced back from being edged out of the Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals against Wigan by dominantly beating Bradford, 52-12, at home.
It was arguably the most exciting match of the round, with both teams in good form and eager to cement their places in the upper echelons of the league ladder. Wakefield had stated this match was one they were targeting, having lost to the Saints three times in 2025.
