Head Coach Paul Rowley was encouraged by his side’s character and resilience despite defeat away at Leeds Rhinos.
The Saints boss believed the performance was a significant step forward and that his team showed great spirit throughout the contest, particularly during a challenging first half when they spent long periods defending their own line.
Juggling changes to his team before and during the match, Rowley said his players remained committed to each other, producing a display that reflected the standards and attitude he expects.
While disappointed with the result, Rowley felt there was plenty to build on. Field position was a key factor in Leeds gaining the upper hand, some of which was earned by the hosts, and other parts came through some ill discipline with penalties and errors.
