David Klemmer tells Saints TV that the team are excited for the occasion of 2026’s Magic Weekend at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
St.Helens will close out the summer Super League festival with The Derby against Wigan Warriors on Sunday evening.
The towering prop is looking forward to playing at Everton’s new stadium for the first time and believes the event is another great opportunity to showcase our sport on these shores. With Saints set to be backed by huge travelling support, Klemmer says the players are determined to deliver a performance the fans can be proud of.
Saints have experienced highs and lows this season, but Klemmer feels the squad have made good progress in recent weeks. He says the focus has been on improving their own performances, while also cutting out ill discipline.
The Challenge Cup Semi-Final defeat to Wigan can also be drawn on as further motivation. The Saints’ #13 believes there were important lessons to take from that game, especially for the younger members of the squad, and says everyone has worked hard to improve ahead of another meeting with their local rivals.
Despite a lot injuries affecting the squad, Klemmer says there are no excuses, and every player is ready to step up when needed as Saints prepare for a big occasion in Merseyside.
