This fixture is always one of the standout clashes in the world of rugby league, as two of the most famous and historic clubs in the sport, with a storied rivalry over 120 years, collide as part of the Easter weekend.
St.Helens came into this Rivals Round on the back of a bad away loss to the World Club and Super League champions, Hull KR, in their first home match since winning those honours. Down on troops heavily, Paul Rowley’s men lost to the Robins in a big defeat, so were looking to respond.
Rowley, continuing to manage a high number of unavailable Saints, drafted in on loan two KR men who were keen for game time.
Wigan also came to the Home of the Saints on the back of a loss, their first of the 2026 season to bottom of the table Huddersfield Giants.
It made for a fascinating encounter on Derby Day, and what was to unfold was nothing short of dramatic.
