Head Coach Paul Rowley speaks to the press ahead of Thursday night’s Round 13 clash against Leeds Rhinos in the Betfred Super League.
Rowley paid tribute to John Kear, a close friend of the Saints’ boss who touched the lives of many people across the world of rugby league. Having toured Australia with Kear as a young player and later working with him during the 2000 World Cup, Rowley said the news of his passing deeply saddened him.
On team matters, Rowley talked about new signing Daniel Suluka-Fifita getting to work and getting embedded in the Club. He believes the towering forward will bring plenty to the squad once he settles.
Looking ahead to Thursday night’s trip to Headingley, Rowley said the break last week had given his players time to reflect and stew on the loss to Castleford. Rowley expects a strong response from his players but knows they will need to be at their best against one of the competition’s in-form teams.
Leeds have impressed this season, and Rowley believes they are among the most dangerous attacking sides in Super League. With a strong home crowd behind them and a settled squad, he knows the Red V face a tough test, but one that the team is looking forward to.
