Tristan Sailor believes there were positives to take from the performance against Wigan, with the back insisting the team could be proud of the effort they showed despite the result.
Sailor felt Saints displayed plenty of character throughout the contest, highlighting the commitment shown by the group against tough opposition. While disappointed not to come away with the win, he believes the performance provided encouraging signs to build on.
The Australian also pointed to the experience gained by several of the club’s younger players, who got a taste of the intensity of an away derby against Wigan. Sailor feels the occasion will prove invaluable in their development as they continue to establish themselves at first-team level.
After Saints were forced into further disruption by losing three more players to injury during the match, Sailor refused to use it as an excuse. However, he praised the resilience of the squad, saying they continued to dig in and fight for one another despite the adversity.
Finally, he paid tribute to the travelling Saints supporters, describing them as “amazing” and thanking everyone who made the journey to back the team at the Brick Community Stadium.
