Cunningham on Challenge Cup success and derby against Wigan on Sunday!

Wed 11 May 22

Saints Women will kick-off the Betfred Women’s Super League this Sunday afternoon, 15th May, in a huge clash with the Wigan Warriors at the Totally Wicked Stadium and we caught up with captain Jodie Cunningham to look ahead!

Having retained the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup, following a record attendance at a Women’s Rugby League fixture at Elland Road last weekend, the Saints Women begin their search for yet another trophy…

WHAT TIME DOES THE MATCH KICK-OFF?

Gates will open at 1pm for a 2pm kick-off. The Totally Wicked North Stand will host all fans, with all seating unallocated.

Tickets are FREE for all 2022 Members, who just need to scan their 2022 Membership card at the turnstile to gain entry.

Saints Women’s Captain Jodie Cunningham said on the fixture: “I’m just really excited to get going, Wigan being a Derby as the first game always has a little extra taste to it. The girls are licking their wounds, getting all fixed up this week making sure that we’re ready for that game, and full focus is now on making sure that we back up and get that grand final win. It’ll be tough, but the girls are ready, they’re going to really give it to us, and we’re going to give it right back.”

On the Saints supporters: “For me I don’t think they realise how important they are especially to the Women. Of course, to the Men as well but I think especially to the Women, I don’t think they realise how much of a difference they make not only to the performance but to the occasion. Having them turn up, young girls, families turning up to support the Women, and really making stars of the Women, it’s huge for us.

“Firstly, thank you for everything they’ve done so far, but secondly, keep coming, keep getting down.”
