Coach Wellens has been pleased with his Saints’ efforts so far in the opening weeks of the year, but has challenged them for more improvement, starting with a tough place to go on Saturday at Wakefield.
Our opponents on Saturday have returned to the Super League after a year in the Championship and Wellens was complimentary of Wakefield for the way they have got themselves back in the top-flight and have recruited strongly to be more competitive in this season. This competitiveness has been highlighted by the Trin’s strong efforts in the opening two round of Betfred Super League.
Wellens also gives the latest news regarding his team, such as James Bell could return to the fold after missing out last week, as could Moses Mbye. He has been pleased with Jake Wingfield’s efforts in both the back-row and hooker positions in the opening two rounds.
Konrad Hurrell also gets credit from his Head Coach for the strong and positive attitude he has shown to going on dual registration with Halifax Panthers in the last fortnight. Hurrell is not out of Wellens’ mind for future selection, and having come back from a very serious injury the game time he is getting is very important.
