The win means that come Monday evening when the draw is made, the Saints will be in the hat for the Quarter Finals of the Betfred Challenge Cup.
Wellens admitted that whilst there was areas of the game that he and the team can be pleased with, there is still improvement to be made with work to be done. He insisted that the Saints are working on developing our game, and can strike in both attack and defence.
The result was not without a cost though as Joe Batchelor came off the field in the first half and failed his Head Injury Assessment, meaning he will miss next week, and Mark Percival needed to come off the field in the second half and was putting ice on an foot or ankle knock which did not look promising.
Singing the praises of Tristan Sailor putting himself about against men far more sizeable than he is, and Harry Robertson’s continued brilliant efforts, Wellens highlighted some real positive performances.
