St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press after his side’s 20-12 loss to Warrington Wolves in the 2025 Betfred Challenge Cup.
However, discussing where the Red V let themselves down the Saints boss stated that our team made too many errors in good field position.
Wellens praised the efforts of his players, particularly for dealing with some real adversity in-game, but insisted that improvement has to come from the way we manage matches, such as on last plays which had some poor execution.
With some similarities to the league match just over a fortnight earlier, we were limited with how much good attack we could have, through mistakes of our own making.
The Head Coach also applauded James Bell for the way he approached the game as 18th man and come on to play, and Jack Welsby for some sensational defence to stop Matty Ashton from scoring twice.
