St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens spoke to the press following his side’s 4-17 defeat to Leeds Rhinos in Newcastle as part of Magic Weekend 2025.
It was another bitterly disappointing result for Wellens and his men, a third successive Super League loss in a row. There is no denying Wellens knows such form puts pressure on the Saints boss, with our club expectant of better frisked and performances.
The Saints were left to rue allowing the Rhinos to get two early scores on the board, one on either edge, making it tough to get back into the game, especially when making errors of our own.
A big moment was the yellow card for Lewis Murphy during the second half, which Wellens described as ‘flabbergasting’, with our winger’s eyes solely on competing for a high ball.
