Head Coach Paul Wellens spoke to the press following his side’s 4-46 away victory over Huddersfield Giants at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Saints boss was delighted with his team’s performance on the road, especially following up the strong win over Catalans Dragons a week earlier. However, Wellens was also keen to reaffirm that he and the squad are not getting carried away as we strive for consistent performances week after week.
Discussing some of our star performers, Wellens sung the praises of the likes of Tristan Sailor, George Whitby, and Jack Welsby, who all contributed well to the result. Focusing on Whitby’s efforts too, he was pleased with the youngster not getting his head down after not passing perhaps when he should have done after a break, and how the team responded by going and scoring.
With Hull KR to come next week, Wellens does not want to focus on talking about our opposition, insisting that we need to stick to our standards and performances.
