St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press ahead of welcoming Leeds Rhinos to the Totally Wicked Stadium for Round 15 of Betfred Super League 2025.
The Rhinos are running hot at present with a five-match winning run which they extended last Saturday at home against Warrington Wolves, and Wellens knows that his Red V side are taking on one of the most in-form sides in the competition.
Issuing the latest on his squad ahead of Friday night’s fixture, the Saints boss revealed that Joe Batchelor is expected to be out for around four weeks, and that Curtis Sironen will be given as much time as is needed to see if his back spasms improve. The Saints will also be without George Whitby due to a failed HIA picked up from the Salford game, and that James Bell has undergone minor surgery for the removal of a piece of bone following a foot fracture injury he picked up in April.
Wellens reaffirmed that if the Saints are to get the result over Leeds, his team will need to perform at their best in what is likely to be a highly physical contest.
