The St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens gives his verdict to the press following his team’s 18-4 victory over Leeds Rhinos.
Wellens was pleased with the win over one of the in-form sides in the Betfred Super League, but especially with how his men performed in remarkable heat on the back of a short turnaround from the away match on Sunday, and with the disruption to our lineup due to injuries.
Harry Robertson made one of the best tackles that the competition will see this season, taking down veteran winger Ryan Hall to stop him making a 60+ metre run in for a score by coming off the opposite edge and help drive him into touch. Paul Wellens spoke proudly at how his Saints defended, with that one tackle showcasing their collective desire.
The key word that keeps coming up by Wellens and his troops is consistency, the Saints boss wants this game to be a marker as one of their best performances of the year so far, and to keep that effort and determination to our game plan going.
