St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press ahead of Saturday afternoon’s trip to the MKM Stadium.
The Saints boss gives the latest surrounding his squad after naming an unchanged 21-man squad from the side that beat Salford Red Devils last Sunday.
In an injury update Wellens stated that Mark Percival may return in the next two weeks, with Joe Batchelor and James Bell not far behind too. Curtis Sironen after missing out the last two matches is expected to be fully fit and in contention for this week’s fixture too.
It will be the first match of the season between the Saints and the Black & Whites, and Wellens is aware of the improvements that Hull have made under John Cartwright in 2025. With our team also going to their home venue, our men need to be at their best to get the result against a side that has a good blend of young talent with some experienced quality players.
Wellens was also pleased at having six England representative Saints selected in this week’s Ashes Train-On squad, and reveals he has laid a challenge out to the squad to have more of our men in the national team come the end of the season.
