St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press ahead this coming Friday night’s fixture against Wakefield Trinity.
The Saints head into the mach at The DIY Kitchens Stadium in a positive mood after a professional performance over Castleford Tigers to win 40-0. That result moved the Red V into fourth place, however, Wellens insists that our team’s goal is to finish as high as we can in the Super League table, so performances will need to keep getting better as we enter the run-in.
Discussing his half-back choice partnership of Jonny Lomax and Moses Mbye, Wellens credited their efforts in recent months. Whilst that means George Whitby is not currently playing in the Saints’ First Team, he is still learning alongside those senior halves, and the Club’s confidence in Whitby remains absolute.
The hunt for the post-season spots keeps on heating up, and Friday’s clash sees our fourth placed Saints take on sixth placed Wakefield. A win for either side would be important, as both teams look to cement their places in the Play-Offs.
