Head Coach Paul Wellens speaks to the press ahead of his Saints’ clash against Leigh Leopards this Friday night.
Following his 21-man squad announcement, made just a few hours before the press conference, Wellens explained why Morgan Knowles has not been selected. After failing a Head Injury Assessment (HIA) against Hull KR, and following an appointment with a neurologist this week, it was advised that our number 13 should miss another week.
Wellens named our newest Saint, Shane Wright, in his squad and stated that there is a chance the back-rower could feature against Leigh. The loan signing has impressed the St.Helens boss since joining our environment, who says he is looking strong and match fit.
Looking ahead to Friday night, Wellens knows we are taking on another Play-Off side. Having already faced them at our ground, we are well aware of how challenging they can be – especially on their home turf this time around.
Wellens reiterated his belief in our squad as we edge closer to the knockout stages of the Super League campaign, saying that while the Saints can win the big games, we need to keep making improvements in certain areas.
