Paul Wellens, Head Coach of St.Helens R.F.C. chats to the press ahead of this Friday night’s match against Castleford Tigers.
The Saints are hosting the Tigers in Round 27 of the Betfred Super League, with one week to go until the start of the Play-Offs.
Wellens has made seven changes to his 21-man squad for this fixture, two of which are enforced forced due to HIA protocols and a one-match suspension, but the other five alterations see him rotate his men around ahead of the knockout clash next week.
The Red V boss confirmed that loan signing Shane Wright will make his club debut on Friday night, and there is potential for more maiden appearances as well, with our young Saints pushing for a place in the matchday seventeen.
When it was put to Wellens if it could be assumed that he would roll with the same spine as last week, he was quick to say it would not be right to simply presume that, but he did reiterate he does want to settle it after a number of changes throughout the season.
There was really positive news for winger Lewis Murphy too, as he was included in the 21-man squad selection. Wellens praises the efforts of Murphy in his desire to return to fitness before the season’s end.
